Lose the Battle, Win the War

In the first render of this pair, I was telling the story of the Master Chief entering a battle near its end. With the second, unplanned piece, I wanted to conclude the story with the result of this battle being a loss for the UNSC. Even in defeat, some sort of victory can be found -- that being the marines live to fight another day.
